Ultraviolet radiation can be produced by various artificial sources but for most people the sun is the predominant source of UVR exposure. For outdoor workers without adequate protection or control measures the levels of solar UVR may exceed the generally accepted exposure limits. Ultraviolet radiation is divided into three categories of increasing energy: UVA, UVB and UVC. While both UVA and UVB can cause health problems such as skin cancer, premature aging, and cataracts, UVA is a low energy form of UV and has only minimal biological effects.
Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States [1 ]. In 2006, more than one million people were diagnosed as having basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma, resulting in approximately 2200 deaths from both cancers combined. Skin cancer is one of the most horrible diseases that could happen to anyone. Skin specialists recommend that people use sunscreens that reflect, absorb, or scatter ultraviolet radiation.
Long-term exposure to ultraviolet radiation adversely affects the natural aging process of the skin, resulting in the formation of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and potential skin cancer. Your most important protection against the effects of penetrating ultraviolet rays is the regular and liberal use of sunscreen. It is much easier to prevent sun damage than it is to treat it.
Super Suncare provides UVA and UVB protection, against aging and burning. Super Suncare contains Parsol®‚ 1789, also known as Avobenzone, and is essential for protection against skin damage and premature aging. Super Suncare is a waterproof sunblock with an SPF (sun protection factor) of 20 and is offered in a generous 8-oz. bottle.
Sunscreening formulations are generally used in hot weather and at beaches where people enjoy bathing activity. It is also essential that the protective coating applied to the skin is not appreciably affected by water or perspiration. Sunscreen must be applied at least 15 minutes before going outside to all exposed areas of skin and reapplied every two hours to maintain the stated protection. Reapplication does not give additional protection but ensures that the stated protection is achieved.
